  • Location: Find a quiet and peaceful area in your home where your cat can sleep undisturbed. Avoid placing their bed in high-traffic areas or near noisy appliances.
  • Temperature Control: Cats are sensitive to temperature changes. Ensure that their sleep area is neither too hot nor too cold. Provide them with blankets or a heating pad during colder months.
  • Eliminate Distractions: Minimize environmental stimuli in their sleep area. This includes keeping loud noises, bright lights, and other pets away from their sleeping space.

  • Adulthood (7 months to 10 years): Adult cats typically sleep around 12-16 hours per day. This can vary based on the individual cat, breed, and environmental factors. Adult cats are crepuscular meaning that they are most active during dawn and dusk. They usually nap during the day and night. Adult cats still need rest but not as much sleep as kittens require. 
  • Senior Years (10 years and older): Senior cats may sleep even more than adult cats, often exceeding 16 hours per day. This is partly due to a decrease in energy levels and metabolic rate. Older cats may develop a preference for familiar and comfortable sleeping spots. Maintaining a consistent routine becomes increasingly important for their well-being.
