As the only open-door shelter in Boone County, they don’t turn any animal away based on breed, age, health or temperament. They rely on support from the public to offer life-saving medical care as well as intake prevention programs to keep loved pets out of the shelter. They take in close to 3,500 animals each year and are incredibly proud to have a 97% placement rate for all animals entering our shelter! 75 years later and they are still going strong, providing the refuge for the sick, injured and abused animals come through their doors. Innovating and providing new programs to save animals and support their community is a focus for them.
