This week we talk to David Meyer, Co-Founder, and CEO of Adopt-a-Pet.com, North America’s largest pet adoption website. David has become a passionate advocate for the powerless lives in our society – abandoned and homeless animals. His vision was to create a tool that would not only save thousands of animal lives but would also do so in a way that was funded by companies for whom they create value, leaving private donations largely for shelters and rescues who actually care for the animals. Having partners such as Nestle Purina, Bayer Animal Health and the Petco Foundation have allowed David and his team to run as a lean high tech company that happens to be a charity. With a network of over 17,000 animal shelters, humane societies, SPCA’s, pet rescue groups and pet adoption agencies their mission is all about getting homeless pets into forever homes. Not stopping there they also provide useful and informative information on the human/companion relationship to help keep pets healthy and in their forever home.
