From the Lone Star State to the Sunflower State

Sadie, TexasMeet Sadie! She arrived in a local city shelter this summer after being picked up off the streets. When the shelter she was in became too full and reached capacity, Sadie was running out of time. That day, the shelter called Sam Coffey Animal Rescue Facility (SCARF), where they aid in the care and adoption of animals in the Junction Texas Animal Control Shelter. The volunteers at SCARF assist in fostering, caring, and finding homes for pets. They picked up several dogs that day who were placed in foster care.

Sadie had been overlooked and remained in the shelter. It may have been because of the unflattering picture taken or maybe because of her fur color. Sadly, no one knows why she was left behind. Just in time, Sadie’s adopter Jody, was looking to adopt a Rat Terrier Mix. Familiar with the breed, Jody knew what kind of personality she was looking for. She recently lost her dog only 6 months ago, and she was ready for a new companion. Right when she saw Sadie, it was love at first sight!

Sadie in the car in TexasThe shelter Sadie was in sent a video of her to Jody and it sealed the deal. Sadie was the one! Now, Sadie had to find her way from Texas to Kansas. Everyone was posting on Texas Transport and Kansas Transport pages on Facebook and saw the transport group, R.A.C.E.  The transport was going through Kansas, right along Sadie’s route. The shelter contacted R.A.C.E and they took it from there. Within just one week there was a plan in place and wonderful volunteers who offered to take Sadie one leg at a time, all the way to meet her new Mom!

Thanks to R.A.C.E and all of the volunteers on her transport, Sadie traveled over 700 miles from Junction, Texas to Topeka, Kansas. Sadie and her new mom were very excited and could not be happier. She is now in her new furever home!
