Meet Doobert’s transport of the week, Izzy!
Izzy is a Boxer, thought to be about 1 to 2 years old. She is known to be a very goofy, lovable soul. Izzy is a high-energy dog and needs a little work on manners and being on a leash. She is very happy about life and exploring, while loving people. Izzy loves to lick and be petted. She is very interested in cats that she follows around and loves taking car rides.
Izzy was an owner surrender because her owner did not have time for her and no longer wanted to take care of her. She was dropped off at a high kill shelter in Dallas, North Carolina, called Gaston Animal Control.
Another family pulled Izzy from the shelter, however, that family’s dog did not want to share time with Izzy, so she was brought back to the shelter. Whiskers Animal Rescue and Sanctuary pulled her to safety and found her an adopter immediately.
Whiskers Animal Rescue and Sanctuary Whiskers Animal Rescue & Sanctuary promotes responsible guardianship of all domestic animals and advocates for the compassionate treatment of all animals. Their mission is to fight euthanasia of cats and dogs as well as providing temporary care and housing for those animals that were lost, abandoned, abused and/or medically treatable until a permanent and loving “forever” home can be found.
Izzy’s new adopter is Stephanie. She lives in Colorado and loves hiking and going on long walks. Izzy will be a perfect hiking companion in the mountains and trails. Stephanie has one cat that Izzy will be very fond of. Stephanie was looking for a large, lovable dog that could handle long and rough road hikes. Stephanie was sent Izzy’s picture just before leaving the shelter, and she fell in love.
Izzy was pulled two days later and is in foster care until her transport to Colorado. Stephanie asks every day if Izzy is coming soon. Izzy has been fully vetted and spayed as well; so she is in tip top shape for her new home in the mountains.
