More Control Over When People Can Book Your Calendars

Each scheduling calendar now has Booking Rules and Date Overrides, so you can decide how soon and how far ahead people can book, and close or change your hours on specific dates.

What changed

Before

Bookings were always limited to 60 days ahead, and any open time could be booked, even if it started minutes later.

There was no way to close a calendar on a specific date or change its hours for one day.

Now

You set how much notice a booking needs and how far ahead people can book, for each calendar.

You can also block specific dates or give them custom hours, for one calendar or for your whole organization.

What’s in your calendar settings

Booking Rules

A new Booking Rules section on a calendar’s Settings tab sits between Weekly Hours and Event Limits, and saves with Save Settings.

  • Minimum scheduling notice. Set how far in advance a booking must be made, in minutes, hours, or days. People can’t book times sooner than that, and the booking page tells them how much notice is needed.
  • Booking horizon. Choose a rolling window, counted in calendar days or in days the calendar has hours, or allow booking indefinitely into the future, up to a maximum of 365 days. Existing calendars keep their current 60-day window until you change it.
  • Clearer daily limits. Your existing per-day booking limits work the same way, but the booking page now explains when a day is fully booked.

The minimum notice can’t be longer than the booking window.

Booking Rules settings: a minimum scheduling notice of 3 days, and a booking horizon set to Rolling window with a 30 calendar day booking window. The other horizon option is Indefinitely into the future, capped at 365 days.
Set the minimum notice and how far ahead people can book.

Date Overrides

A new Date Overrides card appears after Weekly Hours on the Settings tab.

  • Block a date or set custom hours. Close a calendar for a specific date, or give that date different hours from your usual weekly schedule.
  • Organization-wide closures. Mark a date, such as a holiday, as closed for all of your calendars at once. If a calendar has its own override for that date, the calendar’s override is used.
  • See it at a glance. A month view shows blocked dates and custom hours, and an Upcoming overrides list shows whether each one applies to the whole organization or just this calendar.
  • Existing bookings are never canceled. If you block a date that already has bookings, you’ll see a warning with how many there are, so you can review and reschedule them from the calendar.

Who these rules apply to

Booking Rules and Date Overrides apply when people book from a case scheduling link or your public booking page.

Staff booking inside Doobert aren’t held to the minimum notice, booking window, or blocked dates. Instead, they see a warning and can choose to book anyway. Double-booking a time that’s already taken is always prevented, for everyone.

Why it matters

You get time to prepare before each appointment, you control how far ahead your schedule opens, and holidays or closures no longer show up as open times.

See it in action

  1. Open a calendar in Scheduling and go to its Settings tab.
  2. Under Booking Rules, set a minimum scheduling notice and a booking horizon, then click Save Settings.
  3. In Date Overrides, add an override to block a date or set custom hours.

Sort Animals by Whether They’re on a Case

Improved

Sort Animals by Whether They’re on a Case

You can now sort the Animals view by the Case column.

The Animals view table with the Case column highlighted. The Case column header has a sort arrow next to it.
Click the Case column header to sort animals by whether they’re on a case.

What changed

Before

The Case column on the Animals view wasn’t sortable, so there was no way to group animals by whether they were attached to a case.

Now

The Case column header is clickable. Sort one way to group animals attached to a case together, or the other way to group animals that aren’t on any case.

Why it matters

It’s easy to find animals that still need a case, or to review every animal currently on one.

See it in action

  1. Open the Animals view.
  2. Click the Case column header. Animals attached to a case group together.
  3. Click the header again to reverse the sort.

Cleaner Scheduling Filters and No More Dead Links

Improved

Cleaner Scheduling Filters and No More Dead Links

Canceled and deleted events are now hidden by default on the Scheduling Overview, and deleted events are clearly labeled.

What changed

Before

The Scheduling Overview showed all events by default. Canceled and deleted events were mixed in with active ones, and there was no filter to separate them out.

Now

New Canceled and Deleted filters let you show those events when you need them. Both are unchecked by default, so the Overview shows only active events unless you opt in.

Events on a deleted calendar are clearly labeled Deleted, and the button that used to lead to an error page has been removed.

Take a look

Scheduling Overview Filter Options dropdown. All calendars and each calendar are checked, and the new Canceled and Deleted options are unchecked.
Canceled and Deleted now have their own filters, unchecked by default.
Event details for a Volunteer Orientation event with a Deleted label next to the title, and a note that the event is associated with a deleted calendar. The only button is Close.
An event on a deleted calendar shows a Deleted label, with no button leading to an error page.

Why it matters

The Overview shows what’s actually active by default, and deleted events no longer send you to an error page.

See it in action

  1. Open the Scheduling Overview. Canceled and deleted events are hidden by default.
  2. Open the Filter dropdown. “Canceled” and “Deleted” appear as their own checkboxes, both unchecked.
  3. Check “Deleted” and open an event tied to a deleted calendar.
  4. The event is clearly labeled “Deleted,” and there’s no button leading to an error page.

Case Details Stat Cards Now Jump to Their Section

Improved

Case Details Stat Cards Now Jump to Their Section

The four stat cards at the top of Case Details are now clickable shortcuts to the section each one counts.

Case Details header showing four stat cards: Animals, Animal Costs, Other Cases, and Active Workflows. The Active Workflows card is highlighted on hover with a 'Go to Workflow' tooltip above it.
Hovering a stat card highlights it and shows a tooltip, like “Go to Workflow” on Active Workflows.

What changed

Before

The Animals, Animal Costs, Other Cases, and Active Workflows stat cards at the top of Case Details showed static counts.

Seeing “3 Animals” meant scrolling past Case Information, Notes, and Files to find the Animals table yourself.

Now

Each stat card is clickable.

Animals, Animal Costs, and Other Cases take you straight to their section on the Overview tab. Active Workflows switches to the Workflow tab and scrolls there automatically.

Why it matters

One click takes you from a count to the details behind it, with no scrolling past sections you don’t need.

See it in action

  1. Open any case and hover over a stat card. It highlights and shows a tooltip.
  2. Click Animals, Animal Costs, or Other Cases. The page scrolls to that section.
  3. Click Active Workflows. The page switches to the Workflow tab and scrolls to it.

Clearer Bulk Delete for Templates

Improved

Clearer Bulk Delete for Templates

When you bulk-delete templates, the confirmation now shows exactly which ones are still in use by a workflow.

Pop-up titled 'Some templates are still in use', explaining that the listed templates are used in a workflow step and can't be deleted until they are replaced in the workflow, followed by a list of five template names and an 'Ok, got it!' button.
The pop-up lists the selected templates that are still in use by a workflow.

What changed

Before

Deleting a single template that was in use by a workflow showed a clear error.

Bulk delete worked differently. After you confirmed, it silently skipped any template tied to a workflow and gave no reason why those templates were left behind. This could look like something had gone wrong.

Now

The bulk-delete confirmation lists exactly which of your selected templates are in use by a workflow.

You can see upfront which templates won’t be deleted and why.

Why it matters

You no longer have to wonder why a bulk delete removed only some of your templates. The pop-up explains it.

See it in action

  1. Select several templates to delete, including at least one that is used in a workflow.
  2. Check the confirmation pop-up. It lists which templates are still in use and can’t be deleted.

Status and Assignment Changes Now Spell It Out

Improved

Status and Assignment Changes Now Spell It Out

Log entries for Case Status and Assigned To changes now show exactly what changed.

Case log entries that name the old and new values, such as 'Case was assigned to Tim Duncan from Brad Pitt,' 'Case Status On Hold was updated to Awaiting CSR,' and 'Case was unassigned from Benedict Miguel.'
Status and assignment log entries now name both the old and new values.

What changed

Before

Entries in the Workflow, Communication Log, and Activity Log only noted that a field “was updated.”

They didn’t show the previous value or the new one.

Now

These logs show the specific before and after values. For example:

  • “Case Status On Hold was updated to Awaiting CSR“
  • “Case was assigned to Tim Duncan from Brad Pitt“
  • “Case was unassigned from Benedict Miguel“

Why it matters

You can see exactly what changed and when, without having to guess or ask around.

See it in action

  1. Change a case’s Status or Assigned To field.
  2. Open the Activity Log, Communication Log, or Workflow. The entry names both the old and new values.
