Search Text Messages by Keyword

The search in the text message slide-out now finds conversations by words in the messages, not just by contact.

The text message slide-out with 'Pet Retention' typed in the search box, highlighted. The matching conversations are listed, with the words Pet Retention highlighted in each message preview.
Searching “Pet Retention” lists every conversation with those words and highlights where they appear.

What changed

Before

Searching in the text message slide-out only found conversations by contact.

If you remembered what was said but not who said it, there was no way to search for it.

Now

You can search by words in the messages, too.

Conversations that contain the word you search for appear in the results, even when the match is in an older message.

Why it matters

You can find a conversation from what was said in it, without scrolling through each contact’s messages.

See it in action

  1. Open the text message slide-out.
  2. In the “Search contacts or messages” box, type a word from a message.
  3. Conversations that contain that word appear in the list, with the matching words highlighted.
